Blue Diamond buys Fermoy's garden centre

Blue Diamond has bought Fermoys Garden Centre to bring the Guernsey-based garden centre group up to 15 centres.

The sale of Garden Retail award winning Fermoys is due to complete on 14 October. Staff were told this week.

Blue Diamond MD Alan Roper said: "Fermoys over-trades for the space and I want to broaden its customer base into the more affluent while protecting its existing cusotmer base."

The Devoon-based garden centre is strong on local community projects and Roper plans to reinforce that.

Roper said he became interested in Fermoy's when he heard the centre was applying for planning permission for a rebuild.

Blue Diamond will re-launch Redfield in Hampshire on 19 November.

The company will now turnover £70m, up from £15m when Roper joined 15 years ago.
