Best Business Innovation - Winner Majestic Trees for My Majestic Professional

When it comes to supporting trade customers online, specimen tree nurseries are lagging behind, with virtually none providing online access to current stock availability and pricing in a searchable format.

Most still operate on a price-on-application basis - highly inconvenient for landscapers and garden designers who spend so much of the working day outdoors.

In May 2014, Majestic Trees took a major step forward in improving its standard of online service by integrating its stock availability database with its online TreeFinder search facility that enables the nursery to provide up-to-date stock information and pricing in a dynamic, searchable format.

Registered trade customers can log in and view trade prices alongside retail ones as they search for trees in the image-rich TreeFinder environment. They can also create shortlists of favourites and then email that list to themselves, complete with images and specification.

In late 2014 further improvements were made to the service. First to allow trade users to customise their favourites list with their own branding, pricing and messages that can then be forwarded on to their clients as their own beautifully formatted quotes, complete with images and without needing to retype a single specification. Online registration was streamlined, allowing trade customers to register for both a trade account and a TreeFinder user account at the same time and by allowing applicants to supply a website address in lieu of two trade references.

In spring 2015, a campaign was launched to publicise the improved online trade environment under the name "My Majestic Professional". A surge in online trade registrations followed, with 12 per cent of new registrations going on to place orders with Majestic Trees.

Total trade sales from January to August show a 29.4 per cent increase on the previous year.
