By grafting new consumer vegetable varieties onto vigorous commercial rootstocks, the company had produced aubergine, tomato and cucumber plants capable of reaching 2m in height within 10 weeks, said UK representative Sirekit Mol. "They are more vigorous than conventional plants."
The company already provides young plants for the fresh produce sector. "We have what we think is the only vegetable grafting machine to do the work," said Mol, adding that, while the grafts were taken when the plants are sold, the clips are being retained "for effect".
The company has formed a partnership with Dutch consumer magazine Home & Garden to market a plant range under Home & Garden brand. "We produce the sleeves, labels, and point of sale," said Mol.
