Bee identification cards boost golf club pollinator drive

Bumblebee identification has been made easier thanks to a card from Syngenta that guides users through the body shape and markings of the six most common species found in the UK.

The card, handed out at the British & International Golf Greenkeepers' Association Turf Management Exhibition, complements the Operation Pollinator Guide to Bees of Great Britain & Ireland wall poster provided to golf clubs signing up to the project.

"We have had an incredibly positive response from golf clubs to get involved," said Syngenta Turf & Landscape communications manager Karen Roberts.

"They recognise that the initiative enables the industry to demonstrate that positive management of fairways, greens and tees to offer the ultimate playing experience can sit perfectly well alongside proactive management of rough areas for ecological gain."
