Beckworth garden centre to open second ice rink

Work is under way at garden centre/grower/restaurant Beckworth Emporium in Northamptonshire to install a second ice rink and a larger main rink to accommodate the thousands of skaters expected on the ice this winter.

The main ice rink, which attracted 22,000 skaters between November and January last year, has been increased to 400sqm and will now hold 130 people.

The second rink, measuring 12m x 10m, is being introduced exclusively for private parties of up to 40 people, with a fixed rate of £199 per session.

Beckworth Emporium co-owner David Brown said:

"The ice rink has proved to be a phenomenal success over the past two winters. We've increased the size of the main rink again to cater for the the enormous demand anticipated, and we're delighted to now be offering the second rink for private parties. Skating is the perfect way for families and colleagues to get in the festive mood and we're looking forward to another excellent skating season."

Also new for 2011, visitors can learn to skate with an experienced award-winning ice skater. The lessons are taken in groups of 12 on the smaller rink and cost between £10 and £12.50 for a 45-minute lesson.

The real ice rink is due to open on November 25 and will be open daily until January 8.
