The BASIS Amenity Training Register (BATR) covers both those who recommend treatments and those who apply them.
Corbett works as an independent consultant but has extensive past experience in both manufacturing and distribution businesses within the crop protection industry. In recent years, his focus has been on the amenity sector which ranges from local authorities to private contracting and facilitation companies.
"BASIS has taken on the challenge to set and maintain standards in this sector for both product recommendation and application. Given most amenity work involves public spaces, high standards are particularly important to ensure the right products are used at the right time, in the right place, and applied by correctly trained operators," said Corbett.
"I look forward to engaging with the industry to ensure BASIS delivers what is required to demonstrate the professionalism of the Amenity Sector to Government and the general public. We need a CPD scheme that is widely supported to ensure the workforce is suitably qualified and most importantly regularly updated, as products, technologies and regulations change."
BASIS chairman Chris Clark commented: "I am delighted that we have secured the services of Peter Corbett. He brings a wealth of experience in the industry generally and particularly in the amenity sector. I am sure he will make a significant contribution."
