Barking's Mayesbrook Park is Britain's first "climate change park"

The London Assembly has praised work to turn Barking's Mayesbrook Park into Britain's first "climate change park" as a good example of river restoration.

The Mayesbrook project will transform the 18ha park into a green space with an extra flood plain that will help lessen the effects of climate change on the local area. Hundreds of new trees will provide shade from the sun and homes for wildlife. The park will also have more hardy drought-tolerant plants to create a more sustainable landscape.
