Barenbrug adds three new mixes to range

The 2011 Barenbrug sports and amenity catalogue features three new grass seed mixtures and four new cultivars.

Additions to the Barenbrug range include BAR Trio, BAR Medal and RTF Turf, while four new culitvars have also been developed – Barsignum perennial ryegrass, Barcesar tall fescue, Barrocky perennial ryegrass and creeping red fescue Barprince.

  • BAR Trio has been developed through extensive trials across the UK and Ireland, and is a 100 per cent fescue blend offering high salt tolerance, shoot density and diseases tolerance as required by links courses.
  • BAR Medal is a combination of the hard-wearing Bargold cultivar with Viktorka.  Designed for fine turf applications, the mixture boasts good wear tolerance and a greater degree of recovery.
  • RTF Turf has been developed for turf growers, and contains deep-rooting Rhizomatous tall fescue and the new tufted tall fescue Barcesar.

Barenbrug research and development manager Jayne Leyland said:  "We’re delighted to unveil such a strong line-up of new mixtures and cultivars for 2011.

"While demonstrating our commitment to breeding and producing new and innovative mixtures for the sports and amenity turf market, we also continue to support our products with indispensable advice and information to help customers get the very best from their chosen grass seed solution – something that’s essential while the economy and adverse weather continue to challenge us."
