BALI health and safety courses win recognition

The United Kingdom Contractors Group (UKCG) has officially recognised BALI's ROLO (Register of Land-Based Operatives) Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness Course under its UKCG Health and Safety Training Standard.

This acknowledges that this industry-specific health and safety standard, to which BALI members and the wider landscape industry have been working, has received wider acceptance as a credible standard by the commercial sector. The ROLO Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness Course is a pre-requisite for anyone applying for a LISS/CSCS skills card.

UKCG representative David Lambert said: "We are pleased to confirm that the Register of Land-Based Operatives’ Health, Safety and environmental Awareness Course is one of the recognised courses under the UKCG Health and Safety Training Standard. Its inclusion is a welcome addition, covering landscaping and associated trades, and will continue to bring clarity to the requirements of the standard."

BALI chief operating officer Wayne Grills believes the ROLO course’s recognition vindicates BALI’s investment in developing and promoting the course and achieving its adoption as a pre-requisite of the LISS/CSCS skills card: "This is great news and will reassure employers and their employees of the value to businesses and individuals of industry-specific health, safety and environmental awareness training."

BALI administers both the ROLO course and the LISS/CSCS skills card.
