Bagpuss creator backs Dianthus seeds

Suttons Seeds has received a letter from Bagpuss co-creator Peter Firmin about its products Dianthus 'Bagpuss' and Dahlia 'Clangers'.

He told Suttons it is Bagpuss’s 40th birthday on 12 February and when his keen gardener wife Joan spotted these varieties in Sutton's catalogue, they just had to get in touch.

She helped make the original Bagpuss and knitted the Clanger puppets and is growing the varieties in her garden.

There will be a new issue of stamps and first day covers from Royal Mail, focused on the children's classic TV shows as well as a promotion of Dianthus Bagpuss seeds at £1.99.
