Attendance at is currently 20% up on last year’s event which is headlined by retail marketing expert Mary Portas of TV’s Mary Queen of Shops fame.

The conference, which takes place at the Barbican Centre in London on the 13th October, is
preceded by a dinner on the evening of 12th October. Ben Page, Chief Executive of Ipsos Mori will provide the after dinner speech.

Speakers for the strategic conference include: Leslie Kossoff (Business and Management Adviser), Pippa Goodman (Future Foundation), Carol Paris (Garden & Leisure Group), James Barnes (Dobbies Garden Centres), Boyd Douglas-Davies (Webbs Garden Centres), Jon Kitching
(Beckwith Emporium), Andrew Maxted (HTA), Neil Ramsorrun (Digital Media Producer), Professor Andrew Fearne (supply chain expert), Geoff Caesar (Bransford Webbs Plant Company), Philip Evason (Haskins Garden Centres), Andy McIndoe (Hillier Garden Centres), Mark Gregory (Landform Consultants) and Matthew Wilson (journalist and broadcaster).

One of the highlights is likely to be Mary Portas' report on the state of the garden retail sector.

But delegates will also be the first to hear the findings of the latest HTA Garden Industry Monitor research into consumer use, attitudes and expectations of the modern garden centre.

In addition, the Future Foundation will present its ideas about changing consumer trends as will industry leaders who will also examine the future of gardens themselves, and how these trends will influence what customers will expect to find on our garden centre shelves in coming years.

HTA President Caroline Owen said: "There is much anticipation about this year’s event
reflected in the attendance levels and with the networking dinner the evening before the
conference I encourage all those from across the industry to attend. You really will miss
out if you are not there!"
