Artificial grass supplier, Grono says the combination of wet, cool summers and long cold winters has led to an increase in sales with annual turnover expected to double to £800,000 this year.
Founder Lionel Gilmartin's China-sourced product is now sold in 400 branches of Jewson. Grono also supplies landscapers directly.
He said: "The bad summers we’ve had over the last couple of years and the long winters have had a big impact on people’s gardens. Over the last 12 months we’ve seen our turnover double, and are on course to hit our sales targets for this year.
Gilmartin is in talks with Jewson parent company Saint Gobain to take the product to Europe.
