The TrustMark service has more than 500,000 tradesmen and women’s details displayed each month.
All Arboricultural Association approved contractors who join TrustMark will now carry the TrustMark badge.
The scheme operator license was awarded following an assessment of all the Arboricultural Association’s processes for vetting and inspecting contractors as well as its customer service policies, compliance audits, quality management and complaint handling procedures.
In the wake of the winter storms TrustMark recorded big rises in the number of searches for registed tree consultants, tree surgeons and garden landscapers.
Technical Officer at the Arboricultural Association Paul Smith, said TrustMark certification was an exciting development.
"Many of our contractors work principally in the domestic sector and regularly have to compete for work against unscrupulous contractors and individuals. The loser here being the poor consumer who is often left with a big hole in their wallets, coupled with stress and worry. TrustMark's strap-line "Government endorsed standards" conveys a very strong and reassuring message for both our members and their customers."
TrustMark’s head of quality and regulatory affairs Ray Ferris said the Arboricultural Association had "put in a first-rate application".
