Aquatics concession firm celebrates 100th opening

Maidenhead Aquatics has opened its 100th concession since formation in 1984. The company recently moved into Ireland and Scotland and it plans continued growth through opening concessions in garden centres.

Cotton Traders has opened its 50th concession, with its first at a garden centre opening in 2000. Sixty per cent of its stores are in garden centres with the rest in retail villages, and the company plans 20 more a year in garden centres during the next three years through First Franchise. Turnover is now £70m, with 36 per cent from retail and 59 per cent from home shopping, with five per cent wholesale.

Nauticalia, which retails nautical gifts, has opened a concession at Notcutts Garden Centre in Maidstone, its first in a garden centre. Hire Station now has stands in 150 garden centres that earn commission on equipment hired.
