Affiliate Exceptional Service - BALI National Landscape Awards 2017

PRINCIPAL AWARD WINNER - Landscapeplus

Sponsor: idverde

Landscapeplus has a simple mantra — "best trade prices, professional products, direct to you". The company’s unique selling point is simple too. It is a trade-only, one-stop shop for everything the landscape contractor or garden designer needs — apart from hard materials and plants — delivered overnight, anywhere in the country. Rather than being a traditional wholesaler, Landscapeplus is a customer-focused business, committed to helping landscape professionals grow their businesses by enabling them to provide a broader range of products to their customers.

Judges' comments

"This company has an enviable cohort of extremely satisfied customers who value their professionalism and knowledge. Since entering the industry they have worked hard to establish their reputation by identifying trends and meeting customer needs. They are known for their support for BALI and other industry organisations through events and sponsorship and are worthy recipients of this award."

AWARD WINNERS

AHS

AHS has been celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. For a quarter of a century, the company has built its business on its primary aim — to support landscapers and horticulturists throughout the UK. From the beginning, it set out to be the supplier that landscapers and horticulturists can depend on for quality products, competitively priced, delivered swiftly and with ease. Some 25 years later, and with accolades including the UK’s leading supplier of Forest Stewardship Council-certified bark and woodchip to its name, AHS is delighted to have achieved such a loyal base of customers, many of whom have been by the firm’s side from the beginning, growing with it. AHS says these relationships are the most enjoyable part of what it does and the driving force behind its continuous quest for improvement. Year on year, the company invests in its people, products and systems, all with the aim of bringing its customers an evermore exceptional service.

Hahn Plastics

Persimmon Homes’ new housing estate in Stalybridge required a crib retaining wall system that would need to ensure safety and stability for the families moving into the properties whilst being able to retain the land behind the homes. Timber retaining walls would not provide the required lifetime due to recent legislation banning certain timber treatments. Timber not only rots and decays, it also splinters, causing an unsafe environment for family gardens. Needing a material that would withstand the challenging environments and remain safe for years, Persimmon chose the hanit Eco-crib recycled plastic retaining wall for its material benefits. It is strong, durable, maintenance-free, weather- and rot-resistant, and comes with 120-year BBA approval, providing a reliable structure with a lifetime guarantee. The product is also aesthetically pleasing due to its timber-like finish. Hahn Plastics works closely alongside PC Construction in the manufacturing of Eco-crib retaining walls.

Star Uretech

Star Uretech has been formulating and manufacturing high-performance products for use in the construction, highways and landscaping industries for more than 20 years. Its patented range of innovative products has been used on some of Britain’s most iconic landmarks, including the London Eye, Clitheroe Castle and Ibrox Stadium. Since 2015, Star Uretech’s new management team has transformed the company into a modern, forward-thinking, honest and trustworthy supplier. As a company that takes great pride in doing the right thing, it has become the UK’s first supplier of resin bound and bonded products to receive accreditation as a "Living Wage" employer and has also received an Environmental Innovation Award for its low-carbon footprint bonded surfacing products.

Crowders Nurseries

Crowders Nurseries is a nationally renowned wholesale grower of native and ornamental trees, shrubs and all hardy plants for the trade, from high-end private domestic schemes to large national infrastructure programmes, with more than 200 years of experience. The company strives to provide added value to its BALI clients through market intelligence, networking events and supporting the industry and its charities. "We are committed to providing customers with a quality product, delivered on time and defect-free. Our long-term success depends on our customer service — we want to go beyond our customers’ expectations." The company strives to continually improve, using feedback, learning and experience to make decisions based on evidence.

Green-tech

Green-tech is a leading UK supplier to the landscaping, forestry and horticultural industries, distributing more than 6,000 product lines that help to protect, enhance and improve plants, trees and their environment — from tree planting and urban landscaping to green walls and green roofs, soils and wild flower seed. It operates from a purpose-built business park just off the side of the A1 that houses its head office, production facilities and vast warehousing and distribution operation.
