Additions made to Scottish tree-grants scheme

The Scottish government has made changes to its grants programme for trees.

The Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP) — a scheme that provides a £1.6bn injection of government cash into economic, environmental and social measures — has made changes to its tree grants.

The SRDP has added three items to the list of capital items eligible under the grants scheme under the option: Woodland Improvement Grant — Woodland Habitats and Species.

These capital items are:

  • Removal of tree crop to waste 3m-6m high
  • Woodland clearance benefiting raised bog/blanket bog — felling to waste
  • Woodland clearance benefiting raised bog/blanket bog — felling and extraction
