Aberdeenshire parks could be improved through four-year community plan

Aberdeenshire Council is consulting on a draft plan to improve quality of life for residents in the south west region of Marr.

The council has put together the draft Marr community plan, which covers the four-year period from 2010 to 2014, over the past six months.

Action points include additional sports pitches in the towns of Huntly and Bachory, and improved local parks across the region.

This includes modernising the Cooper Park play area in Huntly and setting up park user groups at the following sites:

  • Monaltrie Park in Ballater
  • King George V Park in Banchory
  • Haughton Country Park in Alford

Marr area planning chairman Les Allan appealed for local residents to give their views on the plan. "We hope that you will find the plan inspiring," he said.

"This document brings together the plans of a range of public services, community groups and voluntary organisations. It demonstrates how, by working together, we can achieve so much more," he added.
