The third phase of Lambeth Council's Our Streets programme has yielded 110 trees in four wards to the south of the borough following consultation with residents.

Calling door-to-door, traffic engineers and consultation officers asked residents what should change in the area, with "more greenery" being highlighted in all four wards.

They were also shown a tree catalogue produced by the borough's arboricultural officer and project managers, which not only listed suitable trees but also explained their environmental benefits.

It is now calling on residents to water the new trees, particularly during hot weather, explaining: "Tap water, rain water or even dishwater is fine."
