What is your background? I graduated in economics and geography last year from the University of Leeds then spent a year as a civil servant analyst in one of the Government departments. Now I’m starting at Neame Lea as an account manager for the Tesco account.

How did you get started in the industry?
For personal reasons. (Neame Lea managing director) David Ball is my cousin and it’s a family business. I’ve always been exposed to it at a certain level and, coming from the area I do (Spalding), horticulture has always been a part of my life. I wanted a new challenge and this is an opportunity that I couldn’t get elsewhere at this time in my career.

What are you looking forward to most about your new role? Communicating with customers. I enjoy chatting with people and getting to know them, and using that to our mutual advantage, and growing Neame Lea in the areas we’re looking to grow in.

What are your ambitions for the future at Neame Lea? Just to look at the trade and see how everything is going and expand trade and see how we can develop further. I want to engage as many people as possible and look across the industry and not just at one specific area. It will be nice to reach over a couple of different areas especially at the beginning to get to know the breadth of the industry.
