Wyevale Garden Centres launches Christmas ranges

Trading director Dan Zinner said Christmas was "as important as always" and a "second peak" to Wyevale, which was holding its second annual festive launch.

Wyevale have an overall theme of 'Joy', with five themes: Secret Garden, Wintry White, Vintage, Merry & Bright, Traditional and Midnight.

Zinner said Christmas would start at the same time as usual, in September, in store. He said 15ft Christmas trees would be available in request. Artificial trees are from National Tree Company and Puleo.

Christmas buyer Laura Comfort said rather than taking a range from a supplier such as Kaemingk, the 149-centre retailer was looking to be exclusive and the only Christmas brand it had was Gisela Graham.

Waitrose, B&Q, Dobbies and Hobbycraft are among retailers that have launched Christmas in the last fortnight at central London locations. Most emphasise UK provenance of real trees and exclusivity of product, as well as seeking to sell product that is not mass market, such as cheap baubles.
