Jones joins from Waterford-Wedgwood-Royal Doulton, another private equity-backed business, where he worked within a private equity restructure and turnaround.

Steinmeyer will stay for three months to hand over.

New chief executive Roger Mclaughlan said: "I’m very pleased that Anthony Jones will join us, taking on the role of CFO.  Anthony has over 20 years of experience within a range of retail and consumer environments and he brings a wealth of experience to WGC that extends across business transformation, in addition to finance."

Chairman Stephen Murphy said: "Nils has been instrumental in the transformation of WGC during his tenure and I’d like to thank him for his significant contribution and efforts in positioning the business for its next phase of growth."

Jones was at Thorn before joining WWRD Holdings, which was formed to acquire certain businesses and assets of Waterford Wedgwood plc (in Receivership), including the brands of Waterford, Wedgwood and Royal Doulton and related assets. The acquisition was arranged and financed by KPS Capital Partners, a New York based private equity firm focused on investing in restructuring, turnarounds, complex carve-outs and other special situations.
