Wyevale Garden Centre changes starting to be felt

New chairman Justin King and chief executive Roger Mclaughlan are starting to make their presences felt at the 151-centre chain.

Wyevale is advertising for 13 horticulture managers, five horticulture team leaders. eight shop managers, three garden centre managers, including one on a holding development trial at Beaconsfield, and for a nursery operations manager additional to the nursery manager at Bridgemere.

The Terra Firma-owned chain is also asking online visitors about their online purchasing preferences, adding: "Wyevale Garden Centres will be launching a new e-commerce site soon- allowing site visitors to buy plants and other gardening products online for home delivery or click & collect."

Wyevale said the changes were the result of becoming "much-more customer-focussed" under Mclaughlan and King.

The company is giving internal candidates the opportunity to step up in holding development trials.

The transactional website has been delayed, with Wyevale saying in February the site was on course for launch in spring. There is now no date for launch.

Wyevale issued its annual report in July, commenting on a "challenging year".
