The shop will have a canopy over the entrance of the 120sq m building. Wealden District Council planners said the project was "acceptable low-key and small-scale use, which would enhance vitality and viability of garden centre with no harm to shopping centres. No material change in character of site, which does not appear to be isolated as it is adjacent to main traffic route with significant volumes of cars."
The company's managing director John Paisley said: "This is still a proposal."
Wych Cross may now extend its shop first. Paisley added: "We need another till and more space. We're a bit cramped at the moment, which is reducing customer experience as they leave.
"You want customers to feel good as they go."
