Work starts on hospice grounds

Devon firm starts transformation project

Design and build company C1 Landscapes has begun work redeveloping the grounds of North Devon Hospice in Barnstaple. The Devon-based firm’s owner, Colin Porter, is working as adviser and landscape consultant on the 2ha site, and his team is doing the landscaping. Porter is also using his nursery at Torrington as a holding area for plants for the site. He says: “We want to grow on plants locally and not use imported stock.” Phase one of the project has just begun and will finish later this year, with phase two due to be completed in 2007. Porter said that businesses and volunteers had offered a great deal of help on the project. North Devon Hospice provides care and support for adults with cancer and other life-threatening conditions. Trees were supplied by Dulford Trees of Cullompton and the groundwork contractor is Groundplant of Bideford.
