Westland sponsors Irish growing campaign

Westland Horticulture is sponsoring the GroMór Campaign, a nationwide campaign to get Ireland growing.

The campaign, which aims to make gardening accessible to all, is being launched in association with Bord Bia and encompasses 65 Retail Excellence Ireland (REI) garden centres and 17 nursery growers. It will offer practical advice on growing, highlighting the benefits of gardening as a pastime and encouraging novices to garden.

Westland will also replicate the Rising Stars Programme in Ireland.

Marketing director Keith Nicholson said: "GroMór is a great opportunity for the whole of Ireland to get outside in the fresh air and start growing. Our Rising Stars Programme will ensure garden retailers are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to make gardening appealing to all those who walk through their doors.

"Encouraging new and emerging talent is essential for the future of our industry, it brings fresh ideas and inspiration, essential for driving participation in garden sector. The Irish Rising Stars takes its learnings from an existing training model that we run in the UK, which has been running for six years with exceptional success."

REI garden group manager Sandra Doran said: "The Rising Stars training programme will get the very best from garden centre staff, helping them promote the benefits of gardening to a new generation."

Bord Bia marketing specialist Carol Marks said: "We’re really pleased to be supporting this event which promises to develop garden centre staff and enhance involvement in GroMór."
