It was the first in a series held throughout January and February across the UK and Ireland.
Trowell Garden Centre operations manager Tania Simpson said: "As always, Westland have delivered a professional and comprehensive training event. Well worth the journey."
Westland introduced garden centre staff to lawn gardener types with different attitudes to lawns. They learnt differences in seed, how to create and maintain lawns and how best to advise customers. They also spent time looking at real-life lawns in order to identify exactly what good and poor lawns looks like.
Daniela Constantine, brand manager for Lawns at Westland Horticulture, said: "We now have our very first Lawn Academy graduates who are ready to head back into store and reinvigorate their lawn category. We believe garden centre staff are the key in growing lawncare participation. From guidance, product recommendation and problem solving, the right advice can really affect your turnover at point of sale."
Further sessions will be now be held at Taunton, Preston, Perth and Dublin, throughout January and February.
