Inscapes said its order book was worth close to £2m after winning a landscape job for sports pitches at the Gateway to the Valleys secondary school in Bridgend.
Managing director Gareth Rees said the business also won a job for an FA-standard pitch in Swansea on top of projects for floodlighting and laying tarmac.
"Lots of our work is for schools and the Welsh assembly is spending big in that area," he added. "We train staff in horticulture, machinery and management."
Brisk business prompted him to recruit the company's first commercial manager just after Christmas. Peter Evans, who joined from the water industry, said: "I'm pleased to join a business with its heart in Wales and its eyes on wider horizons."
