"In a post-Brexit world, food and drink is a massive export opportunity and there are a lot of Kent companies in that sector who would benefit," said its international trade adviser Richard Bond.
"Sterling's weakness gives us the opportunity to be competitive. For fruit it's about identifying markets - do they like Bramleys, say - and there is work to do to investigate these. If you're selling something perishable you are probably looking at markets closer to home."
He explained: "We can then help British companies build business overseas by giving advice and putting them in touch with our embassy contacts to develop export opportunities and meet local standards. We don't select the markets for them but work with them to identify opportunities. It's an aspiration many companies have but exporting isn't easy and it's a very individual discussion we would have with them."
