Unseasonably windy spell set to continue today following last night's gales

An unseasonably windy spell is expected to continue today following gales which buffeted much of the UK last night (Monday 1 June) the Met Office has warned.

The warning said strong to gale force winds with gusts of 40 to 50mph in places would continue to affect parts of the UK again today. 

Gusts could reach around 55mph in a few exposed sites, the Met Office added.

Damage to some trees remains possible, it said.
