UK Landscape Conference preview

The inaugural UK Landscape Conference will take place in Liverpool on 8-10 November.

The aim of the event is to demonstrate the UK’s engagement with principles of the European Landscape Convention, and to celebrate landscape achievements and identify issues ahead.

The event will be case study driven and will include contributors from across the UK and further afield.  A short insight into landscape in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales will be given.

Keynote speakers include Rene Bihan from the SWA Group in San Francisco, Dr Mechtild Rössler – chief of the European and North American section for the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, and Dr Iain Stewart who will be discussing the making of Scotland’s landscape.

The winner of the UK Landscape Award will be announced at a special awards ceremony on 8 November, and the main conference will take place on 9 November followed by a guided site visit to the Merseyside Basin on 10 November.
