The designer, who's garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show was named Best in Show this year, and landscape contractor jointly won the International European Landscape Contractors Association (ELCA) Trend Award 'Building with Green' at GaLaBau, in Nurenburg, last month, for The Box House project in Sevenoaks, Kent. The trade fair is Europe’s largest for urban green and open spaces, landscape design, construction and maintenance.

The project also won a Principal Award in the 2015 BALI Awards. The garden was described by judges as "an outstanding home garden project that showed off a multitude of skill including solid architectural landscape design and clever use of planting."

During the awards speech, ELCA president Emmanuel Mony called the project "a role model".

He said: "This garden is an outstanding example of sophisticated landscape design in a home garden. The garden planner and landscape gardeners succeeded in a special way to bring together a number of related historical and modern building elements to a holistic appearance."

ELCA works biennially in close cooperation with the German Association of Landscape Gardening and Sports Grounds Building to award joint achievements of builders, landscape architects and landscape gardeners in green construction in the International Trend Award.

Despite the name, the entries are chosen to come from a different country each year, so The Box House was pitted against other top schemes from the UK only.
