Fox markets asparagus varieties developed by a breeding programme at the University of Guelph, Ontario.

Guelph Millennium has been the most popular hybrid to date but the programme is also launching three new cultivars, Guelph Eclipse, Guelph Evolution and Guelph Equinox.

Global Plant Genetics co-owner Jamie Petchell said: "The breeding programme at the University of Guelph and the seed production at Fox Seeds are world renowned for their professionalism and delivery of excellent asparagus hybrids.

"We are eager to further the development of the programme through increased seed distribution across Europe, working with as wide as possible range of nurseries and growers."

Fox Seeds executive director Bernt Solymár added: "Asparagus is a long-term investment for growers, and we were looking for a partner with sufficient technical skills to ensure that both nurseries and growers make the most of our hybrids. GPG provides that for us."
