Hosted by Horticulture Week, the UK Grower Awards are the longest standing and most sought after awards in the industry, giving professionals from the ornamental, fruit and vegetable crop industries, the chance to showcase their achievements, reward staff and ensure potential customers know how good they are.
All entries into the Awards are judged by a panel of independent industry leaders, making the results transparent and fair. The 2016 panel will be announced shortly.
Horticulture Week recently announced that entry to the UK Grower Awards 2016 will be free to all members of associations representing commercial growers.
Once again this year the Awards will include an expanded range of categories for the fruit sector in collaboration with the Fruit Focus exhibition. Meanwhile, following their successful introduction last year, categories for growers of specialist crops will feature again this year across the ornamental, fruit and vegetable sectors.
Winner of the cider grower's award and overall grower of the year for fruit categories in 2015 was Thatcher's Cider. John Thatcher said the win "demonstrated to all of us that the hard work that goes in on a day to day basis is all worth it, especially when put under the spotlight and recognised in this way."
He added:"It's our pioneering innovation and commitment to trialling new approaches in the orchards that caught the eye of the judges, and by winning the awards it's a message to the whole industry that in order to move forward we have to innovate and take risks."
