Trailblazer may be path to landscaper recruitment says Dodd

Outdoor Room founder David Dodd says business is brisk but recruitment remains an issue.

Dodd, who recently celebrated 20 years in the business, said: "Everyone is chocked solid and 2016/17 is going to be fantastic."

He said new build housing was producing a pipeline of work but "staff shortages are the big problems".

Dodd added: "We’re looking at apprenticeship schemes and Trailblazer but its not just about recruitment, it's also about retention."

Dodd said he may not be contracting at Chelsea Flower Show this year for the first time in 20 years after designers Marcus Green's and Serena Fremantle's sponsorship deal fell through.
