Top cop to head up Gangmasters Licensing Authority

Former assistant chief constable of Nottinghamshire Police Paul Broadbent has been appointed chief executive of the Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA).

Broadbent takes over the £85,000-a-year post from Ian Livsey, who left in October.

GLA chairman Margaret McKinlay said: "Paul is exceptionally well-qualified to provide leadership to the GLA, his past experience will be put to very good use."

Set up to curb the exploitation of gang workers in farming and other industries, the Nottingham-based agency was recommended for closure in a government-commissioned report last year, but the recommendation was rejected by the government.
