Top calibre visitors flock to 1st! Fair Harrogate

Level of buyers attending show gives organisers confidence for bigger show next year

The high level of buyers at this month’s 1st! Fair Harrogate has led to early bookings from exhibitors for next year, paving the way for an even bigger event. The annual fair is becoming a one-stop shop for obtaining Christmas lines and novelties. Organisers of the show have reported that 88 per cent of visitors to this year’s event held positions at buyer level or above, with many exhibitors reporting higher order levels than at previous shows. Show organiser Janet Morley said: “Despite bad weather it’s been a good show. “Visitor levels were up on last year, particularly in the first few days, and many of the exhibitors I’ve spoken to have seen order levels go up on previous years. “We’ve already taken bookings and a lot of exhibitors have asked for even more space so hopefully next year will be bigger than ever before.” Byrkley & Worcester Garden Centre director Neil Gow said: “1st! Fair is an excellent early shop window. It’s at a time when the Christmas season is still fresh in the mind. Manufacturers have early samples of new products on display and it’s a good opportunity for picking up on next year’s trends.” Next year’s event, on 15-19 January, will benefit from an additional show hall.
