Built by Elevations Exhibition Design, the traditional garden set on a labyrinth of canals blended tropical tree planting with aromatic herbs grown for home cooking and scented flowers to add character and colour.

Former Hampton Court best in show winner Chris Beardshaw said the garden was a worthy winner.

"I am really impressed," he told Horticulture Week.

"There is a great blend here and the finishing is very high quality."

Clarke’s garden for the Tourism Authority of Thailand & Eva Airways won the only gold in the show garden category, but was matched by three small garden golds, one sustainable garden gold, three conceptual golds and two golds in the Shakespeare’s comedies gardens.

Hadlow College won best in show for small gardens, Victoria Pustygina & Ludovica Ginanneschi topped the Sustainable Garden category, the pansy project won the conceptual award and Capel Manor came out top for Shakespeare’s comedies.
