"History was made at Greenwich Park today and the atmosphere was electric as GB took home a silver medal in the team eventing," she said. "I believe this is one of the most beautiful sporting venues ever seen.
"The park, which covers 183 acres and is the oldest enclosed Royal Park, provided a magnificent location for this Olympic medal win, with spectators from around the world enjoying views across the River Thames, Docklands and City of London.
"The Royal Parks is very proud to have hosted this event at Greenwich Park and our team congratulates team GB on their fantastic effort and the second GB medal to be won in a Royal Park," she said of Elizabeth Armitstead, who won silver for the women’s cycling road race, which passed along the Mall beside St James’s Park.
