Surrey council to seek out contractors for grounds upkeep

Surrey County Council is looking to take on a contractor for grounds maintenance of playing fields and landscaped areas around schools and smaller council properties in the area.

Teams will cut lawns and playing fields, mark out sports pitches, weed hard surfaces and look after shrub-borders including weeding and pruning for five years from 1 February 2013.

The Council’s joint venture partner Babcock4S will procure and manage these contracts on the council’s behalf, said the latter’s head of facilities management Jeremy Jones.

"The supplier or suppliers will deliver services to schools and small council properties in the East of Surrey areas of Spelthorne, Elmbridge, Epsom and Ewell, Mole Valley, Tandridge and Reigate, and Banstead," he said.

"These districts will form six individual contract lots and successful providers may tender for one or more contract lots."

Prequalification questionnaires should be returned to Jones by 17 September, email jeremy.jones@babcock.co.uk
