Supporting product innovation

This issue sees the launch of the inaugural What Kit? Product of the Year Awards from the WhatKit? and Horticulture Week teams. This exciting new awards scheme will celebrate the very best in professional kit and machinery for turf, grounds, arboriculture and landscape professionals.

The awards are a natural extension of Horticulture Week's long-standing commitment to reporting on the very latest developments in the kit and machinery world, including our unique kit tests run by technical editor Sally Drury with the generous help of her team of professional testers.

These kit tests are highly valued both by Horticulture Week's readers and users of our unique professional kit and machinery comparison website, WhatKit.co.uk. Our first What Kit? Product of the Year Awards category is the WhatKit? Turf Care Product of the Year 2015.

During the course of the year, Sally has been assessing the major products that have been launched since December 2013 within this category in order to draw up a long list of turf care products, which are featured on page 19 of WhatKit?Update, published with this edition.

Over the next few weeks this long list will be whittled down to a shortlist that will then be judged by Sally and her panel of independent judges. The winner will be announced early in the new year.

Our next two categories will be the WhatKit? Outdoor Power Tool of the Year and WhatKit? Mower of the Year. If you have products you wish to be considered for these, please email Sally at sally.drury@haymarket.com.

Many congratulations to the suppliers who have made it onto this year's first long list - and good luck in round two.
