The vineyard, which is located on the site of an ancient glacial riverbed near Long Melford, is following the likes of Chapel Down Vineyard in Kent by utilising the crowdfunding system, which seeks to connect private investors with UK businesses needing start-up loans.
Giffords Hall is seeking to raise £58,000 from investors in return for five per cent equity in order to expand its production to 30,000 bottles and upgrade its facilities.
Owner Guy Howard said: "We hope to raise funds for things such as machinery, storage, additional working capital, new plantings and processing equipment."
As Grower went to press, the business had had three investors pledge 50 per cent of the required capital - meaning that the firm's goal could realistically be achieved by the time the campaign ends at the start of September (2015).
Giffords Hall produces still white, red and rose wines, as well as a sparkling white.
