Wild Country Organics is owned and run by Dr Adrian Izzard, growing over 80 open-field and protected crops which are sold through Waitrose, local farm shops and restaurants, and farmers' markets in London.

A trained nutritionist, Izzard makes a point of highlighting the nutritional value of produce at stalls. Freshness is also a priority, with most produce being sold within 24 hours of harvesting.

Also at the awards, Ocado was named best organic supermarket. In a statement, the online retailers said: "Organic drives our sales. We've provided a one-stop shop for customers to get a wide range of organic products and they have thanked us by buying into it.

"We are proud to punch above our weight with our organic market share and we plan to grow this through increasing sales of organic at 10-15 per cent again this year."
