Harper, previously the sales director at Gardman, will provide a range of business support including sales, marketing, technical, supply chain and manufacturing.
The consultancy is a direct development of the collaboration between Steve Harper and Maryanne Stokes.

Harper said: "It has been clear working with Maryanne and her marketing consultancy for the past few months that there is a demand for a broader range of services to companies working in UK horticulture. Sharper Thinking Associates has been borne out of this idea and will work in collaboration with Maryanne and her team to provide a complimentary range of services."
Sharper Thinking Associates is headed by three stalwarts of British horticulture, Steve Harper, Alicia Harper and Dr Richard Gianfrancesco.

Harper has previously worked for William Sinclair, Vital Earth, Bord na Móna and Gardman. He is also the first independent chair of the Growing Media Association. Alicia Harper spent 25 years at William Sinclair in a number of senior roles including group supply chain director and operations director.

Dr Richard Gianfrancesco spent over 10 years at Which?, where he was head of research for Gardening Which?. Latterly, he was head of technical at William Sinclair.
Harper said:"I’m really excited about starting Sharper Thinking Associates, which brings together a number of experienced UK horticulture professionals. With Alicia’s solid back-office experience across Customer Services, Planning, Supply Chain and Manufacturing and Richard’s understanding of British amateur gardeners combined with his breadth of technical knowledge across plants, products and services, I think together we offer a unique set of skills to support British Horticulture and those companies working within it."
