Sprayer markers 10:1

In this trial we took the same products as in the 4:1 test but diluted them further. Although it is rare for paint suppliers to recommend lower rates than 8:1 for initial marking, we are aware that the pressure of budgets means 10:1 is sometimes the rate groundsmen apply. It is also used for overmarking.

Two further products were added to the trial - Supaturf's Topline SupaStadia Extra and Fleet's Blinder. Supastadia Extra is supplied in 12.5-litre containers and has recommended rates of 4:1 to 10:1. Blinder can be diluted between 2:1 and 20:1 and is supplied in 12.5-litre and 15-litre drums.
Single and double applications were made with all products, sprayed through the Fleet Kombi marking machine.
For both the single and double marks, Fleet Blinder was deemed best for clarity, whiteness and brightness. Supastadia Extra and Duramark Supreme tied for second place, along with Fleet Pitchmarker C. There was very little difference between Supastadia Extra, Fleet Pitchmarker and Duramark Supreme.
Marginally but consistently behind in the point-scoring at this dilution rate was Supastadia.
