Speedcut equips Tandridge Golf Club for drought

One of England's top golf clubs is leaving nothing to chance with dreaded drought orders by installing gigantic water tanks.

Tandridge Golf Club in Surrey called up Speedcut Contractors to build the three 84,000-gallon tanks on concrete bases. They include automatic circulation, transfer pipework and pumps.

The club will be able to store grey water when it is cheaper during the winter months. Two years ago it was hit by a drought order, forcing it to tanker expensive water in to keep the greens alive.

Speedcut contracts manager Barry Pace said: "Tandridge is a superb course and these tanks will ensure it has a supply of water for the greens during a drought."

His Oxford-based firm has also done drainage work at Wimbledon Park and Hampstead golf clubs.
