Soldier bereavement charity garden for Hampton Court

A garden highlighting the plight of children who have suffered the loss of a parent who is a soldier will feature at this year's RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.

Designed by Graeme Thirde and built by Harrington Porter, the garden is sponsored by charity Scotty's Little Soldiers.

The garden is a walk-through and was inspired by the charity and its work supporting bereaved military children

The theme focuses on the memories of a lost parent, with the rill being a constant throughout the garden, as the loss of a parent will be a constant throughout the children's lives, with the memory tree expressing some of those memories.

It also reflects on the wish, while retaining memories, to progress in a positive manner toward the children's future, with the rill and planting moving from a turbulent and busy start to a more serene and ordered future.
