The team behind the soft landscaping of the new gallery had two-and-a-half years to procure and install the landscape scheme.

The gardens were designed to surround the Zaha Hadid extension to the gallery with naturalistic planting to complement and enhance the building and to merge the garden with the surrounding environment of Hyde Park and Kensington Palace Gardens.

The scheme had to be delivered on time, to budget, safely and with zero general public and employee incidents. All works were to be carried out to the highest of horticultural standards. The team’s experience and skill sets were used to plan and procure all works to ensure that the project’s objectives were met.

The judges noted: "The planting scheme for the gallery extension has been faultlessly implemented by the contractor, reflecting garden designer Arabella Lennox Boyd’s objective to deliver instant impact. Sweet chestnut and pleached holm oak have been well planted and swathes of Gaura follow lovely alliums in beds packed with interest. The scent from the Trachelospermum jasminoides is heady and beautiful. A lovely scheme planted with consummate professionalism by the contractor."
