Sirane to launch water-based packaging system next year

Packaging company Sirane will next year launch a packaging system that has water inside to keep flowers fresh.

Flower-Fresh Retain allows flowers to stay in perfect condition, and custom built machines are available for packing flowers into the products.

Sirane director of product and process development Ian Beardsall said: "We have overcome one of the biggest problems in the fresh flower industry – how to package and transport fresh flowers safely in water without any spillage.

"If you’re involved in the flower trade, this truly will be the ultimate solution. We have two products coming out in the Retain range, one for transporting and selling fresh flowers in a carry bag, and the second for transporting flowers in a box.

"Not only that, but Sirane Engineering will offer custom-built machines to allow customers to pack flowers into our products efficiently. This is a complete solution."

The product will be launched in 2013, and has already been shown at the International Floriculture Trade Fair and the produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit in Anaheim, California.
