Further to the announcement on 5 March 2015 of the launch of a transformation programme, the Sinclair group reported that the preparation of the plan was" progressing well" and that it would update shareholders on the plan by the end of June.
In March, Sinclair replaced Peter Rush with "turnaround specialist" Stuart Burgin to finish the move the Sinclair's new Ellesmere Port site.
Sinclair said: "Trading has picked up in line with seasonal variations. We continue to expect a result for the year on an underlying basis however that will be materially worse than last year, together with a significant level of exceptional costs reflecting difficulties in building up our operations at Ellesmere Port."
Ellesmere Port head-count (salaried plus hourly paid) has risen from 57 to 118 over the past 12 months.
Three shifts a day for six days a week are running.
GfK figures show growing media was 4.4 per cent down year to date. Sinclair was up three per cent and has taken an extra one per cent market share. J Arthur Bowers 50-litre multipurpose was the number one branded compost.
