On Wednesday (1 March) it filed papers in the High Court in response to the injunction, which was granted in a case brought by local tree campaigner Dave Dillner last month.

A council representative said: "We will be vigorously defending [sic] the claims that have been made in the injunction in relation to street trees."

The controversy received further national coverage last night (2 March) on BBC1's The One Show, on which the council was "unavailable" to put its case.
